We are thrilled to announce that we received a great review on the justanotheriphoneblog.com web blog!
“Now we can make our own on the iPhone – thanks to the new Balloonimals app. This is the most ‘pure fun’ kids app I’ve seen come out for the iPhone in quite a while.
The app is simple and fun to use. You blow into the microphone (or press the screen on a Touch) to blow up your balloon animal. Once your balloon is inflated, you shake the screen to shape your animal – each shake adds a little more form to your creation, until it’s complete. Then you can tap the screen and watch your new creature interact with you in various cool ways – from a dinosaur stamping his foot at you, to a dog scratching himself, and so on.”

Welcome! We are the IDEO Toy Lab. We are pleased to announce the launch of our newest Apple iPhone app Balloonimals as well as the launch of this new IDEO Toy Lab website!
After years of working behind the scenes on a variety of toys and juvenile products, we can’t wait to bring you behind the curtain to a special place we call the IDEO Toy Lab. We’ve been working hard over the last few weeks to bring this site online so that we can share our latest news as we roll out a whole collection of kid-friendly iPhone apps.
We’re really excited to finally open our doors to the world with what we have been working on. We’ve designed toys for years, but this is the first time that we’ve been able to think up a new concept, prototype it, test it out with kids, create a fully working product, and have it ready for sale in such a short amount of time.
Chatting on our Toy Lab Blog will give us the opportunity to connect with each other. It will give you the opportunity to take a look under the hood of what we are doing. We love your suggestions, so feel free to fill us in with feedback along the way. We will continue to post about what it means to design for a tech-savvy new generation of young toddlers and kids who can pick up an iPhone and know how to use it faster than most adults. This is something that has fascinated our team from the beginning of the project. Kids are so sophisticated these days, but they also have an innate curiosity and thirst for fun that makes them one of the most rewarding demographics to design for.
As we update this site, we will continue to bring you new apps as well as the stories behind the apps – what inspired us, what pushed us forward and what kids and parents had to say about it all. Already we couldn’t help but make a few extra videos and create a line of Balloonimals t-shirts. We’ll leave you guessing as to what’s up next. And, of course, if you have something to add, here’s a channel for you to get in touch with us.
We hope you enjoy your time on the site.
Until next time!
