Balloonimals,
iPhone Apps For Kids
We’re all aware that money is tight right now, so if you can’t spring for the $1.99 to download “Balloonimals”, I suggest the following to fully entertain any 3-5 year old:
Head over to the nearest appliance store, pull around the back, and procure a large refrigerator box. Bring it home and stick it right in the family room. Let your kids decorate the outside of the box with washable markers. Encourage them to draw on windows, beautify flower boxes, and design a mail slot. Under parental supervision, cut the windows so they swing open and close like a shutter. Don’t forget to draw and cut out the 20” television screen too. I love this idea because it turns kids from watching to creating. They will produce their own shows and pretend to be news announcers anchoring kid news, with you as the audience. If you want to really go the extra mile, get more large boxes and connect with packing tape. The only downside is you’ll have to put up with some rather unsightly big boxes, but I guarantee you, your kids will remember this experience years from now. Plus you can recycle them when finished with the fun! You’ll be a hero with your youngsters.
Play on!
